KAUFLIN, Katherine L., age 67 of Vandalia, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, July 29, 2012 at the Atrium Medical Center in Middletown, Ohio. She was born August 22, 1944 in Barboursville, West Virginia, daughter of the late Cecil & Ann (Murray) Hatfield. Katherine was a member of Church of the Transfiguration in West Milton, and was a lifelong teacher committed to students throughout the Dayton area, retiring from Vandalia-Butler City Schools, and most recently working with students at Miami Valley Career Technology Center. Preceded in death by her first husband, Joseph, Katherine is survived by her husband, John; children, Matthew Kauflin (Dianne) of Troy and Jennifer Limke (Alan) of Union; grandchildren, Cameron, Emily, Kelly, Katie, Eva & Cecelia; sister, Sheila Collins of FL; her loving extended family from her second marriage and numerous other relatives and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, August 2, at Church of the Transfiguration, 972 S. Miami St., West Milton with Fr. John MacQuarrie officiating. Burial will follow at Polk Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia on Wednesday evening from 5-8 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to MVCTC Education Foundation, 6800 Hoke Rd, Clayton, OH 45315 in Katherine’s memory.
