WOOLERY, John Allen, age 85 of Lewisburg, passed away Sunday, February 24, 2013 at his residence. He was born November 20, 1927 in Chillicothe, OH, son of the late James & Ruth (Grice) Woolery. John was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII, and a retired employee of General Motors with 34 years of service. He was a life member of the Brookville VFW Post #3238, a member of the American Legion Post #0322 in West Alexandria and was the President of the Widow/Widowers Club of Preble County. Preceded in death by his wife, Naomi in 1999, 1 infant daughter, Robin, 1 sister, Juanita Weaver and his birth parents, George William Smith Sr. and Francis Creager, John is survived by his daughter, Debra Novak & husband, Ronald of Vandalia; granddaughter, Emily Novak; 2 sisters, Ruthie Cummins & husband, Richard of Lewisburg and Donna McKown & husband, Ron of Lorena, TX; his companion of 5 years, Francis Evans of Eaton and numerous other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 pm, Thursday, February 28 at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia with Rev. Thomas Weeks officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 5:00 pm until time of service. A Graveside Service will be held at 2:30 pm, Friday, March 1 at Willowview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Preble County Council on Aging Inc., 800 E. St. Clair St., Eaton, OH 45320 in John’s memory.
