Glenda Ziemer
Age 82, a life-long resident of Vandalia, passed away Tuesday, October 3, 2023, at Stonespring of Vandalia. She was born September 29, 1941 in Dayton to the late Glen L. & Lillian “Pat” (Anglin) Downey. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her first husband of 47 years, Charles David Bitner, Sr.; and by her second husband, Rodney D. Ziemer, Sr. and son, Rodney D. Ziemer, Jr.
Glenda was a member of the Vandalia United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir for many years and served on various committees. She was a 40-year member of the Vandalia Lioness-Lions Club for which she served as secretary for over 35 years.
Glenda is survived by her children, Bethany (David) Colby-Lauffenburger, Charles David (Natalie) Bitner, Jr., Roscoe (Lisa) Ziemer, Robert (Cindy) Ziemer, Jessie (Greg) Grubb, Joella Perkins, Jonica Ziemer (Nikki Jackson), Jedotta (Brian) Dainsberg; numerous grandchildren;, Jonathan (Tabbi) & Matthew Colby, Chase & Ireland Bitner, Rodney III, Amanda (Kyle), Ryan, Kevin (Bekah), Kimberly (Christopher), Amber (Mitch), Stephanie (John), Luke, Cassandra, Jacob (Jessica),Tyler (Emily), Weston (Savannah), Tamara (Ezra), Shelby (Logan), Parker, Ashley, Carson, Christine (John), Braylen, and Taelyr; great grandchildren Kaylee Colby, Hallie, Harper, Hannah, Skylar, Amelia, Ethan, Sean, Ronan, Bennett, Evelyn, Titus, Stephen, Saige, Cecelia, Aria, Maya, Leah, Laylianna, and Nehemiah; one sister, Cynthia Scott & her husband, Tom; sister-in-law, Nancy Beismann; and by her extended family & many good friends.
The family will be receiving friends from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm on Saturday, October 7, at the Vandalia United Methodist Church, 200 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia, Ohio 45377. Funeral services with a Lion’s Club memorial service will follow at 12:00 pm.
The family would also like to Thank the staff at Stonespring Skilled Nursing Facility of Vandalia, who cared for her and became a part of her extended family in the last few years. The care they provided meant a lot to her and her family.
In lieu of flowers, contributions should be made in memory of Glenda to Canine Companions, 7480 New Albany Condit Road, New Albany, Ohio 43054 or to the Vandalia United Methodist Church. The family would like to thank the Ohio Valley Hospice organization for the loving care they provided to Glenda.
