Joseph R. Roper
Joseph Richard Roper, age 98, formerly of Vandalia, passed away at SpringMeade Health Care Center, Tipp City, on Monday, January 15, 2024. Joe was born March 31, 1925 to the late Joseph Austin and Goldie Beatrice (Sease) Raper. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Doris Imogene (Frantz) Roper; one daughter, Judith Marie Roper; and by two sisters, Helen Louise Self and Janet Marie Helm, both of Cottonwood, AZ.
Joe was a loving husband, father, son, brother and uncle. He was a friend, father figure and mentor to many. He proudly served in WWII, and was the founder and owner of Triangle Construction Co., as well as Merit Enterprises. Joe also served in many capacities as lay leader in several churches throughout the years.
Joe is survived by Wave Kessler of Tipp City; two daughters, Doris Kay Roper and Nancy Jo Little and her husband, Doug both of Troy; a very special niece, Anne C. Frantz of Franklin and brother, William Edward Raper of Cottonwood, AZ, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 am, Saturday, January 20 at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Drive, Vandalia with Reverend Dale Christian officiating. Private family burial will be held at Springhills Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00 am until time of service.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice, or preferably, have a special dinner out with loved ones to celebrate a life well lived. Flowers fade and die, memories and experiences do not.
