Marcie A. Stonerock

February 15, 1958 — February 22, 2020

Troy, Ohio

Marcia Ann Stonerock “Marcie”

1958-2020

Marcie Stonerock, age 62 of Troy, Ohio passed away Feb. 22, 2020 after a brief illness.

Marcie was born February 15, 1958 in Dayton, Ohio to Leo and Anna Sunderhaus.  She is survived by her loving husband, Mark Stonerock; brother, Michael Sunderhaus; step-brothers, Doug & Dennis Hopkins and by her Stonerock Family brothers and sisters-in-laws.

Growing up in west Dayton, Marcie attended Precious Blood Parochial school and Patterson Coop where she studied accounting and office management.

In 1975 Marcie wed Mark in her parish with all her family and friends gathered in celebration.  The couple was married 45 years, living in several states while Mark served in the Air Force. They returned to Dayton where Marcie would become an active member of the Kettering Optimist Club, helping to uplift and serve others in her community.  She earned her travel agent certification and built a successful career, working with such agencies as Wagonlite, AAA and American Express here in Dayton, and would continue her travel career when the couple moved to New Hampshire in 1999, where they remained for 10 years. Folks would turn to Marcie for her expert travel advice even after she had retired.

Marcie loved cooking, sewing, quilting and crafting her own cards and stationery. Marcie had a glowing personality, loved to do for others, and the combination made everyone she encountered not only smile but go away feeling much happier than before they met her.  After several years enjoying early retirement, she took a job at the local YMCA, a position she cherished because of her love for being around and helping people.  She quickly fell in love with her position and coworkers and volunteered to substitute often because she truly enjoyed serving the public with scheduling and membership issues.

Marcie was known as “the person you can always turn to” when you needed help.  She was always there for you, whether to bring you a homecooked meal or provide a ride to the doctor.  Marcie was always ready and willing to assist others. Her grand heart and spirit will be forever missed by all those who knew and loved her.
