NEFF, Theresa L. “Terri,” 64, of Mason, formerly of Brecksville and Broadview Heights, Ohio, passed away Sunday, May 21, 2023. She was born to Wayne & Arlene Rubey on Sept. 7, 1958 in Dayton, Ohio. A graduate of Vandalia Butler High School and the University of Dayton, Terri was a passionate advocate for education. She taught the 8th grade at St. Anthony of Padua School in Parma, Ohio before going on to serve on the school board for the Brecksville-Broadview Heights School District and the Cuyahoga Valley Career Center.
Terri was an avid reader and lover of the arts. She found many outlets for her creativity, from making jewelry to gardening, baking, and crafts of all sorts. She was always going to the movies or musical performances and was a tireless sports fan, especially of the Browns. She enjoyed traveling with friends and family, including a particularly memorable trip to Italy and Greece to celebrate her 60th birthday. Terri will be remembered for her sense of humor, her curiosity and continuous desire to learn, her optimistic spirit, and the constant care and support she showed her friends and family.
Terri is survived by her father, Wayne Rubey; her partner Gust Chrisanthus and their dog Clapton; 3 sons, Scott Neff (April Morton), Ryan Neff (Amanda McDaniel) & Eric Neff; 2 brothers, Joe Rubey (Jill) & Andy Rubey (Nancy Hood); numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives & many friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Arlene “Toni” Rubey.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 9080 Cincinnati-Dayton, Rd., West Chester, OH 45069, Fr. Michael Hay, celebrant. The family will receive friends at 10 a.m. Tuesday, prior to the mass, at the church. The burial will be held privately at Abbottsville Cemetery, Arcanum, Ohio. Arrangements entrusted to the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, Vandalia, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, donations in Terri’s memory can be made to the Toni Rubey Memorial Fund.
