On October 31st, 2018, Alan Dorse Noble passed away quietly in his sleep at Hospice of Dayton. Known to his family and friends as Dorsey, he was preceded in death by his mother, Grace Fugate Noble and his father, Olie Noble. Both of Dorsey’s sisters, Alena Noble Taylor and Ann Noble Loschert, preceded him in death along with his two brothers, Donald Noble and Alan Noble (infant and his namesake). Dorsey leaves behind his wife of forty-seven years, Christine Fox Noble, his son, Jesse Noble (daughter-in-law, Izzy), and his daughter, Beth Noble Craig (son-in-law, Scott). Dorsey also leaves behind grandchildren, Allison Craig, Macy Craig, Greyson Lorenzo Noble and Zoelle Leah Noble. Dorsey was a great father to Jesse and Beth, but an exceptional “Poppy.” He will be greatly missed. He also leaves behind a nieces, Sheila Taylor of Fairborn, a nephew, Donald of Kentucky, as well as other nieces throughout the country.
Dorsey was a retired art teacher at Esther Dennis Middle School where he taught for thirty years. Dorsey was an artist in every sense of the word. He was a painter, a guitarist, a sculpture, a singer, a writer, an architect, and more. Dorsey was a builder, a fixer, an historian, a philosopher, and a democrat. Dorsey was also a golfer, a dependable person and a very hard worker. Dorsey’s most outstanding quality was that he was a good friend to many people and will be greatly missed.
A Memorial Service will be held to celebrate Alan Dorse Noble at 11:00 am, Tuesday, November 6 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church, 7700 Dog Leg Road, Dayton, Ohio 45414 with Pastor Kurt Lammi officiating. Lunch and fellowship will immediately follow the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Dorsey may be made to the American Legion Post #668, 742 W. National Rd., Vandalia, OH 45377.
