BURGNER, Alberta Mae (Hively), age 87 passed away December 25, 2008 at Koester Pavilion, Troy, OH. Preceded in death by husband Max in 1979, infant son Terry Lee, sister Lucile Fiske, brothers Herbert, Harry and Donald. Survived by son Gary Burgner of Ridgecrest, CA, and daughter Vicki Budde and husband Steven of Tipp City, OH; grandchildren Candice Budde of Huber Heights, Petrina Burrowes (David) of Reno, NV, Matthew Burgner (Lorrin) of Anna, TX, and Douglas Burgner of Ridgecrest, CA; great-grandchildren Bill Freeman, Kaitlyn and Cameron Burgner, Nathan and Gabriel Burrowes; several nieces and nephews. Dear friends Manual and Betty Jo Haves and loving sisters-in-law Wilma Hively of Nashville, TN and Margaret Hively of Centerville. A lifelong resident of the Dayton area, Alberta was a graduate of Steele High School. She was an avid dancer in her teens and throughout her twenties, having studied and taught with Gretchen Lloyd and Jean Hiatt here in Dayton, and briefly studied in Chicago as well. As an active mother, she served as a Cub Scout Den Mother for over 10 years and was a long time Girl Scout Leader. She loved to grow flowers and was never too busy to stop what she was doing to play a game of baseball with the neighborhood kids whenever needed. She ended her baseball days at the age of 70 when she slid into third base doing a complete somersault and landed on her feet. Funeral services will be held Tuesday December 30 at 10:30am at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home 139 S. Dixie Dr. Vandalia with Chaplain Ritchie Dunbar officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 9:30am until time of service. For your consideration, in lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Hospice of Miami County. The family wishes to thank the staffs of Freedom Court of Koester Pavilion and the Hospice of Miami County for their loving care and support.
