LONG, Alice M., age 88 of Dayton, passed away Monday, September 6, 2010 at Hospice of Dayton. She was a retired nurse, was a volunteer at Southview Hospital, a supporter of the Special Olympics and was a member of the Northridge Wesleyan Church. Preceded in death by her husband, Leonard J. & 1 son, William F. Long, Alice is survived by 1 daughter, Miriam A. Hood (Ron) of Greenwood, IN; 4 sons, Leonard J. Long Jr. of Fairborn, Rev. James A. Long (Violet) of VA, Daniel P. Long (Beverly) of Dayton and Robert S. Long (Jondra) of Beavercreek; 4 grandsons, 3 granddaughters, 10 great-grandchildren, and 1 brother, Alfred Howland of AZ. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 11 at 10:00 am, at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia with Pastor Robert Stanforth officiating. Burial to follow at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening from 6-8 pm. If so desired, contributions may be made to the Special Olympics in Alices memory.
