Ann Marie Flory

FLORY, Ann Marie, aged 78 of Vandalia, passed away Wednesday, July 17, 2024 with her family by her side. Ann was born May 15, 1946 in Akron, Ohio, daughter of the late Paul and Mildred (Lucas) Wagner. She was a 1964 graduate of Akron Buchtel High School and went on to earn a RN degree from the Springfield Community Hospital School of Nursing in 1971. Ann grew to love the nursing profession as she served at Akron Children’s Hospital in the burn unit, Englewood Manor Nursing Home and Northwest Dayton Pediatrics. Her most recent specialty was taking care of her patients as part of the trauma/burn unit at Miami Valley Hospital where she retired in 2018. Ann fulfilled her life of serving others in her nursing profession for an amazing 47 years.

Ann was passionate about her grandchildren and attended many of their sporting activities. Ann actively volunteered at the local food pantry and immensely loved her tai chi classes at the Vandalia Senior Center which brought her inner peace, and welcoming friendships. Ann enjoyed her trips that she shared with new-found friends, and her grandchildren. She was always sharing her knowledge on the historical non-fiction books that she loved to read and signing her cards with her “Live, Long and Prosper” tagline. Her family will miss being sent out of her driveway with the iconic He-Man Woman-Haters Club handshake from the Little Rascals. 

Ann is preceded in death by her husband, David Flory and daughter, Elizabeth. Ann is survived by her children, Paul (Hillary) Flory and Ellen (Aaron) Fifarek; six beautiful grandchildren, Adam, Gabrielle, Will, Noah, Amelia and Isaac. Also surviving are her extended family including Laura (Jerry) Davis; Irene (David) Lawrence and Paul (Barbara) Wagner plus many wonderful friends. 

Donations in the memory of Ann can be directed to the wonderful staff at the Ohio Hospice of Dayton.
