Arthur R. "Pete" Stevens

STEVENS, Arthur R. Pete age 69 of Butler Twp. went home to be with his savior Jesus Christ on Friday May 11, 2012 at Hospice of Dayton. Pete was born December 8, 1942 in Ages (Harlan Co.) KY, son of the late Oscar & Ruth (Smiddy) Stevens. He was a U.S. Army Veteran; was a retired employee of Chrysler Corp and was a former custodian at St Christopher Catholic Church. Pete was a member of the Vandalia Baptist Temple; Masonic Lodge #742 F&AM; was a Kentucky Colonel and was a regular at Jims Donut Shop. Pete was preceded in death by his daughter Tina Louise; 2 brothers Terry Wayne and Ronnie Gale and one sister Betty Skidmore. He is survived by his wife of 46 years Sandy; one son Darrin & wife Nancy of Union; one grandson Nathan (the apple of grandpas eye); 3 sisters Norma & Jim Russell of KY, Midge & Jack Goff and Debbie & Chuck Shirley all of W.VA; special friend Jim Lockhart and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Tuesday May 15 at 11:00am at the Vandalia Baptist Temple 724 Helke Rd. with his son Rev Darrin Stevens officiating. Burial will follow at Polk Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home 139 S. Dixie Dr. Vandalia on Monday evening from 6 to 8pm. If so desired, contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton in Petes memory.
