Bernie L. Donathan

DONATHAN, Bernie L. age 81 of Ramrod Key Florida, formerly of Vandalia, passed away Friday September 30, 2016. Bernie was born April 23, 1935 in Mt Sterling KY, son of the late Mason & Ivins (Johnson) Donathan. He was a retired employee of General Motors. Bernie is survived by his loving wife of 63 years Millie; 3 sons Bernie G. (Yumiko), Donnie (Cathy), Brad (Libby; 9 grandchildren Amanda (Joey) Pociask, Randolph (Cassie) Donathan, Donnie (Andrea) Donathan II, Matt (Chelsie Marie) Donathan, Hallie Donathan, Erick Donathan, Ken Donathan, BJ Donathan, and Allen Donathan; 5 great-grandchildren Joey and Maggie Pociask, William and Jacob Donathan, and Madelyn Donathan; 2 brothers Henry and Bobby Donathan; 6 sisters Cora Salyers, Bessie Miller, Brenda Moore, Barbara Roark, Cheryl Knell, Millie Donahue and a host of other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home 139 S. Dixie Dr. Vandalia on Tuesday October 4 from 1:00 to 4:00pm with cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to either the Vandalia Fire Department where Bernie had been a volunteer for 10 years or to the Disabled American Veterans organization in Bernie’s memory.
