GARWOOD, Betty Lucille (Hadder), age 86 of Butler Twp., passed away Wednesday, April 18, 2007 at Good Samaritan Hospital after a short illness. She was born July 2, 1920 in Akron, OH, daughter of the late Frank G. & Violet (Collins) McCroskey. Betty worked as a hostess at the Virginia Cafeteria in Dayton, which was owned by her father, Frank. She was a longtime member of the Polk Grove United Church of Christ and the Christian Womens Club of Dayton. Preceded in death by her husband, Everett E. (Red) Garwood; 1 son, Edward Hadder; 2 brothers, Jack & Clifford McCroskey, Betty is survived by 2 sons, Thomas & wife, Sue Hadder of Vandalia and J.R. Hadder & special friend, Rhonda Conde, who was like a daughter to Betty; 2 step-sons, Thomas & wife, Eva Garwood of Maine, and Rodger & wife, Judy Garwood of Englewood; 1 sister, Lillian Heeter of Englewood; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter and numerous other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 am, Monday, April 23, at the Polk Grove United Church of Christ, 9190 Frederick Pike, with Rev. John Fowler officiating and Rev. Ronald Hajarian giving the eulogy. Burial to follow at Polk Grove Cemetery. There will be no public visitation. The family will receive friends at a luncheon at Polk Grove Church following the services. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Polk Grove Scholarship Fund in Bettys memory. Arrangements entrusted to Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, Vandalia.
