Betty A. Jeffers

JEFFERS, Betty Ann , age 75 of Vandalia, passed away Thursday, February 9, 2017. She was born September 4, 1941 in Troy, OH, daughter of the late Cortis & Neva (Peck) Birchfield. Betty graduated from Vandalia-Butler High School in 1959. She loved her community and school and was an avid fan of all Vandalia Butler High School sports. She worked in the concession stand for the Vandalia Youth Baseball program for over 20 years. Betty was a member of the Ludlow Falls Christian Church, where she played the piano for 15 years. Preceded in death by her parents, Cortis & Neva Birchfield; brother, Price Birchfield, brother & sister-in-law, Robert & Lora Birchfield and brother, John Birchfield, Betty is survived by her husband of 53 years, Marshall “Smiley” Jeffers; 2 sons, James Jeffers and David Jeffers (Jennifer); 4 grandchildren, Emily, Gabe, Courtney & Amber; brothers, Scott Birchfield (Nora), Gene Birchfield (Judy); 2 sisters-in-law, Dorothy Birchfield and Vicki Kaufman (Mick); special friends, Barbara & Gary Holiday and Sonny & Donna Adams, as well as many other nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, February 13 at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia with Pastor Jerry Collins officiating. Interment will follow at Poplar Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, February 12 from 2-4 pm.
