Betty loved to play “Not your grandmother’s” bingo on Tuesdays at the American Legion with her friend Sue Whisman. She retired from Cassano’s in Vandalia. Her favorite television show was Jeopardy and everyone knew not to call her between 7:30 – 8:00 p.m.! She was an avid reader; a member of the Polish Club, Dayton and a member and officer of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 668 in Vandalia. Betty was devoted to the auxiliary and enjoyed helping out with their dinners and assisting at the Dayton VA parties. She found something good in everything and everyone and was considered a “second mom” by many.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, December 23, at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 5:30-7:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Legion Post #668 Auxiliary or to the American Heart Association in Betty’s memory.
