Betty Lou Mathis

MATHIS, Betty Lou, age 72, of Butler Twp., passed away Sunday, August 22, 2010 at Hospice of Dayton. She was born July 29, 1938 in Hazard, KY, daughter of the late Vernon & Carrie Shockey. Betty was a retired employee of Inland Division of General Motors with 24 years of service and was a member of the OES #562. Preceded in death by 1 son and 1 brother, Betty is survived by her husband of 39 years, Norman; 7 children, Russell Mathis (Debbie) of Phillipsburg, Debra Haney (David) of Troy, Rodney Mathis of London, April Scott (Kirk) of Huber Heights, Tim Salyer (Cathy) of Vandalia, Norman Mathis (Beth) of Medway and Gail Obringer (John) of Westerville; 4 brothers, Eugene, Arthur, Wendell & Otis Shockey; 3 sisters, Joetta Vickers, Sharon Stepp, & Martha Nelson; 15 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am, Thursday, August 26 at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia with Pastor Pat Murray officiating. Burial to follow at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 5-8 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton in Bettys memory.
