Betty A Oehlenschlager

OEHLENSCHLAGER, Betty A. (Curran) age 89 of Vandalia, passed away Wednesday August 2, 2017. She was born August 22, 1927 in Dayton, OH to Robert & Jennie Curran. She graduated from Roosevelt High School Class of 1945 and was in nurses training at Miami Valley Hospital. Betty was a wife and mother her entire life and worked at Demmitt Elementary until she retired. She was a lifelong member of the Vandalia United Methodist Church. Betty is survived by one son James Oehlenschlager of Ottawa, OH; 3 daughters Jane Doehler and Judith Taylor both of Vandalia and Jill & husband Brad Verburg of Beavercreek; 8 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; sister-in-law Phyllis Day of Canton, GA; brother-in-law Robert Burling (Frances Bates) of North Port, FL. Betty was preceded in death by her husband Richard and sisters Ethel Beam and Genevieve Burling of Dayton. She was loved by special friends Liz Gleba of Lancaster, OH, Gerry & Milton Shewfelt of Ontario, Canada and numerous nieces and nephews. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, cooking, TV sports and babysitting her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed spending her winters in Florida and summers in Ontario, Canada. Private graveside services for immediate family will be held at Woodland Cemetery with Rev. Tom Weeks officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton 324 Wilmington Ave. Dayton or to the Montgomery County Animal Shelter 6790 Webster St. Dayton OH in Betty’s memory.
