Bailey, Bill Edward age 67, of Vandalia, passed away on April 4, 2012 at Hospice of Butler and Warren Counties with family surrounding him. Born on October 28, 1944 in Dayton, Ohio, Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Delbert and Mary Bailey. A 1963 graduate of Colonel White High School, Bill lived a passionate life relishing the outdoors, woodworking, playing basketball, gardening, and spending time with his family and friends. He loved to go camping, fishing, and mushroom hunting. Bill is survived by his wife of 40 years, Laurel Bailey, and three sons: Todd Bailey (Amy; Daughters Emily, Katelynn, Abigail, Son Tyler) of Englewood, Michael Romano (Kelly; Daughters Samantha, Alexandra, Victoria, Son Noah) of Vandalia, and Mark Bailey (Daughter Madalyn) of Cincinnati; his brother, Ronald Bailey (Ronda), of Centerville, and sister, Bonnie Bailey, of Dayton. Bill is also survived by aunt, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces, in-laws, and friends across several states in the US. Known as "Sawdust," Bill loved woodworking for family, friends, and neighbors in his shop. Some of his favorite projects were an oak kitchen table, fireplace mantle, hutch, wooden American flags created after 9/11, ornate arbors in his and several neighbor's yards, and several cradles for new babies in the family. Bill was a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving in Vietnam, and retired from Inland/General Motors in Dayton after 35 years. Funeral services for Bill will be held at 12:00 Noon, Saturday, April 7, 2012 at Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until time of service. Bill's final resting place will be in the Lookout Columbarium at the historic Woodland Cemetery in Dayton, where a private service will be held. Memorial donations may be made in Bill's memory to Hospice of Butler and Warren Counties.
