Bryan (Red) Kershner, 84, of Troy died Thursday, February 10th at Upper Valley Medical Center. He was born to the late Bryan and Audrey Kershner, on January 17, 1927 in Dayton, Ohio. Bryan was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Freida Kershner (McPherson) and his daughter Brenda Sammons. Bryan is survived by his two children: Donna Brasesco (Alan) of California and Stephen Kershner (Deborah) of New Carlisle. He is also survived by his brother Don Kershner (Jane); their 3 children Tom, Don (Peggy), John (Pat) and his sister Jean Ward; her son Ross (Vickie). Bryan left behind eight grandchildren: Mike, Corey, Jennifer, Mirinda, Bryan, Kristen, Ben and Kara, and eight great grandchildren: Greg, Taylor, Devon, Alyssa, Faith, McKenz, Delia and Blake. From early in life Red had a passion for adventure, whether it be sledding off the rooftop of his Grandfathers barn with brother Don, to his many childhood exploits in the town of Vandalia. His major accomplishments in life included, raising a family of three with his beloved wife Freida, was an Army Paratrooper during WWII, built 14 homes and cottages and Road Superintendent for Butler Township. In his spare time, he raced cars, waterskied and scuba dived at Lake Cumberland, piloted his own aircraft and sailed his boat in the Florida Keys. He loved keeping up with the latest technology and social networking, first with his CB network and later in life with email on any of his 4 computers. He liked to travel, especially to the Colorado Mountains to 4WD. Red never let his health stop him from doing what he wanted to do. At age 82 he returned to skydiving with his grandsons. His final project at age 84 was to build his own private airport for his ultralight aircraft. Red was an inspiration to those who knew him because he just didnt hope to do things, he did them. A Memorial Service for family and friends will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, February 19 at Polk Grove United Church of Christ in the Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to Honor Flight, Inc., Attn: Diane Gresse, 300 E. Auburn Ave., Springfield, OH 45505.
