Carolyn Sue Stovell (Hostetler) of Troy, formerly of Vandalia, born September 13, 1932, passed away July 11, 2014. She was preceded in death by her father, Leonard Hostetler, and her mother, Kathryn Moore. She leaves her loving husband, Bill, after 64 years of happy times. Her surviving children are Kristen Stovell Cupertino, Thomas (Denise) Stovell, Susan (Curt) Lawson, Jane (Larry) Jessie, and Timothy Stovell (Genny Groves). She has eight grandchildren; Ben, Dan, and Will (Casi) Jessie; Annie, Matt (Brittany), and Dan Lawson; and Sam (Kristen) and Mark Stovell; one great-granddaughter, Emily Jessie; and one great-granddaughter on the way. Carolyn also leaves a special aunt, Beth Kennett, and her lifetime friend and soul mate, Hazel Pepiot. Carolyn graduated from Fairview High School in 1950. She was a long-time member of the Vandalia Garden Club, the Vandalia-Butler Historical Society, the Bruckner Herb Society, the Vandalia Duplicate Bridge Group, several other card clubs and was active in many friendship circles. Carolyn loved to travel, to work in her garden, to walk in the woods, and above all, to spend time with her family, whom she loved so dearly. Carolyn was deeply loved by many and cherished by her family and friends. She was an amazing woman who lived a lovely life. The family will receive friends on Friday, July 25 from 5-8 pm at Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr. in Vandalia. A private interment will follow. In lieu of flowers, please contribute to Miami County Hospice.
