Cecil was born October 6, 1934 in Robbinsville, NC where he attended Robbinsville High School and was very active in sports. He left Robbinsville in 1953 and came to Dayton, OH where he held various jobs until he retired from McCall Corporation after many years as a master printer.
Cecil loved people and he loved competition. He was active in football and basketball as a young man and continued his love of sports well into his seventies, participating in bowling and softball. Cecil was a proud member of Alcoholics Anonymous for 38 years, where he made many friends and where he met his wife Kathy. They loved to spend time together, whether it was curled up on the couch at home, going to meetings, gathering with friends or attending dances. Cecil loved to dance.
Cecil was skilled in many areas… he could fix just about anything and he knew cars like the back of his hand. He could listen to an engine and tell you if it had a problem without picking up a tool. He was always ready to give a hand to anyone who needed. His Momma raised a true gentleman. Cecil will be sorely missed by a multitude of people.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, January 6, at the Vandalia United Methodist Church, 200 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia with Rev. Michael Malcosky officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until time of service. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Cecil’s life. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens. A reception will follow at the home he shared with his wife Kathy. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Dayton Area Alzheimer’s Assocation, 31 W. Whipp Rd, Dayton, OH 45459 or to the Ohio Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, OH 45420 in Cecil’s memory.
