Chalmer "Buz" Karnes

KARNES, Chalmer G. "Buz", age 79 of Vandalia, passed away Friday, December 27, 2013 at Good Samaritan Hospital. He was born January 6, 1934 in Parker City, IN, son of the late James Campbell & Lydah Karnes. Buz was a retired Radar/Electronics Technician with the Federal Aviation Administration and a U.S. Air Force veteran. Preceded in death by 1 son, Timothy Karnes, 1 sister, Carmen Estes, 1 brother, Ronald Karnes and numerous half-brothers & sisters, Buz is survived by his wife of 58 years, Shirley (Harris) Karnes of Vandalia; 2 daughters, Kathie Bronstetter of Brookville & Dona Karnes of NM; 1 son, David Karnes of MI; 6 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; a half-sister, Barbara King of Muncie, and a host of other relatives and friends. There will be a gathering of friends and family held from 2-4 pm on Tuesday, December 31 at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, January 2 at the Wilson-Shook Funeral Home, 2048 N 1000 W, Parker City, IN 47368. Burial will follow at Hopewell Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 10:00 am until time of service. If so desired, contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital in Buz's memory.
