Charles "Chuck" Kibbey

February 25, 1949 — November 20, 2008

KIBBEY, Charles R. Chuck , age 59, of Englewood, passed away Thursday, November 20, 2008 at his residence after a courageous battle with metastatic colon cancer. Chuck was born February 25, 1949 in Jamestown, OH, son of the late Charles A. & Betty Jean (Grooms) Kibbey. He spent his early years in Xenia before moving to Port William, OH. He graduated from Wilmington High School in 1967 where he played basketball and served as the President of the Vocational Industrial Clubs of America. Chuck enlisted in the US Marine Corp in 1967 and was deployed to Vietnam where he was injured during combat and received a Purple Heart in 1968, along with various other awards and medals. He received an associate degree in criminology from Palmer Community College in Charleston, SC and served for a short time as an Ohio Highway Patrolman. Chuck moved to & lived in Chillicothe, OH for 17 years where he started his successful career in car sales. He then moved to the Dayton area where he spent numerous years working at several dealerships, most recently Mid Ohio Harley Davidson of Springfield. He was an active member of Ginghamsburg United Methodist Church, where he married his wife, Sue (Livingston) Nilson, on June 26, 2004. Chuck is survived by his wife, Sue; his son, Christopher Rodney Kibbey & wife, Jody of Indianapolis; 4 sisters, Juanita Sue Reed of AL, Vivian Doyle, Martin Kibbey & Ellen May Brown, all of Port William, OH and numerous other relatives and friends. A Memorial Celebration of Chucks life will be held at 11:30 am, Monday, November 24 at Ginghamsburg United Methodist Church (Main Campus), 6759 S. County Rd 25A, Tipp City, OH 45371 with Rev. Mike Slaughter officiating. The family will receive friends at the church on Monday from 9:30 am until time of service. Memorial gifts may be made to the Ginghamsburg Sudan Project, c/o Ginghamsburg Church in Chucks memory.
