Charles William Lamb

Charles "Charlie" William LAMB, Sr., Of Vandalia was born May 19, 1921 in Franklin, Ohio, son of the late William and Dora Lamb and brother of the late Geraldine Messler. He passed away on January 6, 2015 in Fort Worth, Texas at the age of 93. Charlie graduated from Roosevelt High School in Dayton and served as President of his junior and senior classes. After high school he married the love of his life Jeanne Adams. They were married 65 years until her death in 2006. He served in the US Marine Corps from December, 1942 until April, 1946 and rose to the rank of Technical Sergeant. He considered his Marine Corps service one of the top honors of his life. After the war, Charlie went back to work for Delco Products in Dayton and Kettering, retiring in 1974 as General Foreman. Charlie was an avid fisherman and golfer. Charlie is survived by his three children, Charles W. Lamb, Jr. and wife Julie Baker, Gregory G. Lamb and wife Mary Lamb, and Jetta Lamb Chiles and her husband Tim Chiles; grandchildren Christine Stock, Jennifer McPhaul, Kara Bentley, Brendon Bigalow, Rusty Chiles, Kevin Chiles, Marie Bennett, Jeremy Sweetlamb and great grandchildren Cameron Stock, Chandler Stock, Lauren McPhaul, Ashley Stock, Bennett McPhaul, Ethan Bennett, Austin Bennett, Jake Bennett, Annabel Sweetlamb and Lukas Chiles. He is also survived by his dear friends Ann Freeman, Ed Kooper and many other friends in Dayton, Ohio and Padre Island, Texas. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday (1/14) at Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery. Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home in Vandalia is in charge of arrangements.
