Charles T. Rentz, Sr.
Age 95, of Vandalia, passed away Saturday, October 26, 2019, at his home. He was born April 13, 1924 in Dayton to the late Walter Franklin & Elva Lena (Riffle) Rentz. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Peggy.
Charles graduated from Vandalia-Butler High School, class of 1942. During WW II he served in the U. S. Army Air Corps (Air Force) in the 568th Signal Aircraft Warning Battalion. He retired from General Motors – Inland Div. as a Tool Maker, and he was a member of AMVETS Post # 99, VFW Post # 9582 and he was a member of the American Legion Post # 668.
He is survived by three children, Charles Rentz (Deborah), Douglas Rentz & Marcia Rentz (Joe); two sisters, Shirley Harris & Phyllis Arnold (Don); eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and by his extended family & many good friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, October 31, at Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia. Chaplain Randy Reed will officiate. Interment with military honors will follow at Polk Grove Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home from 12:00 p.m. until time of service.
