WOLLENHAUPT, Charles F., age 97 of Vandalia passed away Saturday, April 26, 2008 at his residence. He was born May 13, 1910 in Dayton, OH, son of the late Charles L. & Emmal (Kramer) Wollenhaupt. Charles was a retired foreman with Delco Moraine with over 40 years of service, was a member of Polk Grove United Church of Christ, the Alpha Lodge #729 F&AM, and the Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton. He was also an active member of the Vandalia Senior Citizens, where he was a Past-President and Historian. Preceded in death by his first wife, Evelyn Wollenhaupt, 1 son, Frederick C. Wollenhaupt and 1 daughter, Katherine Wollenhaupt, Charles is survived by his wife, Irene; 1 son, Richard Wollenhaupt of Kettering; 2 step-daughters, Melanie Markunes & Dawn & husband, Steve Nelson, all of Vandalia; 9 grandchildren, Scott, Todd, Robin, Darryl, Dalinda, Donald, Debra, Daniel, & Nicole; 15 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild and his beloved pug dog, Ginger. It was Charless wish that his body be cremated and a Memorial Service for family and friends will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, May 3, at Polk Grove United Church of Christ, 9190 Frederick Pike, with Rev. John Fowler officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton or the Polk Grove Memorial Fund in Charless memory.
