Cheryl E. Case

CASE, Cheryl E., age 69 of Butler Twp., passed away Wednesday, October 31, 2018 at her residence. She was born August 4, 1949 in Piqua, OH, daughter of Frank A. & Mary Jane (Thompson) Lampe. Cheryl was a graduate of Piqua Catholic High School, and went on to earn both her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Education from the University of Southern Illinois. Her passion for education led to Cheryl’s 25-year teaching career. As a reading specialist, Cheryl impacted students at Morton Middle School, St. Peter Catholic School, as well as students in Virginia Beach and at various Department of Defense schools in Germany. Cheryl attended St. Christopher Catholic Church and was an active volunteer with Erma’s House in Dayton, Catholic Social Services of the Miami Valley, and the Philharmonic Volunteer Association. She was also an active member of the Dayton Catholic Women’s Club and T.W.I.G.S.

Preceded in death by her father, Frank Lampe and 2 brothers, Frank & Kari Lampe, Cheryl is survived by her husband of 31 years, Dr. James Case; her mother, Mary Jane Lampe of Florida; her brother, John Lampe of Cleveland; along with a loving extended family and many wonderful friends.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 am, Wednesday, November 7, at St. Christopher Catholic Church, 435 E. National Rd., Vandalia with Fr. John Tonkin officiating. The family will receive friends at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia on Tuesday evening (11/6) from 5:00 – 7:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Erma’s House, c/o Catholic Social Services of the Miami Valley, 1046 Brown St., Dayton, OH 45409 or to Hospice of Dayton in Cheryl’s memory.
