EVERDING, Christian W., age 89, of Butler Twp., passed away Thursday, December 1, 2011 at the Brookhaven Nursing Center. He was born July 5, 1922 in West Manchester, OH, son of the late Silas & Erma (Weaver) Everding. Chris was a retired tool repair specialist with the Frigidaire Corporation with 35 years of service and then worked 30 years for Ralphs Automotive in Vandalia, retiring in August of 2011. He was a member of the St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran Church in Vandalia and a U.S. Army Veteran. He served as a SSGT in the 99th Infantry Division, served in the Battle of the Bulge and in the Ardennes Forest. Preceded in death by 3 sisters, Edna, Evelyn & Elizabeth, Christian is survived by his wife of 70 years, Ruby (Tobias); 1 son, James & wife, Diane Everding of Brookville; 1 daughter, Vicki Malley of Westerville; 4 grandchildren, Jeff, Jeremy, Kevin & Jason (Laura); great-grandson, Luca; and numerous other relatives and friends. Graveside service with Military Honors will be held for family and friends at 11:00 am, Monday, December 5, at Fairview Cemetery, St. Rt. 503 West Alexandria, OH with Pastor Gil Santiago officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301, Attn: Gift Processing. Arrangements entrusted to Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, Vandalia.
