BALTES, Clement Donald age 84 of Vandalia, passed away Saturday, May 26, 2012. He was born January 29, 1928 in Dayton, OH, son of the late Leonard & Helen (Zahn) Baltes. Clement was a proud U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II, serving his country on the BB-38 USS Pennsylvania. He was a member of St. Christopher Catholic Church and was a retired electrician and member of the Local Union #82, IBEW. Preceded in death by his wife, Opal I. Chris Baltes, 1 brother, Jerry Baltes and 2 sisters, Joan Davis & Mary Howard, Clement is survived by his children, Ronda & husband, Tom Bennet of Vandalia and John Baltes & wife, Chris of Kettering; 8 grandchildren, Danielle Ware, Raizor Sharp, Dylan Sharp, Raichel Zoee Sharp, Savannah Hess (Ryan), Christian Bennet, John Baltes & Lydia Baltes; 1 great-granddaughter, Sophia Ware; 2 brothers, Leonard Baltes (Helen) & Richard Dick Baltes (Ruth); 2 sisters, Carol Staples (Johnny) & Helen Loewer (Howard) and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, May 30 at the St. Christopher Catholic Church, Vandalia with Fr. Francis Keferl officiating. Burial will follow at Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia on Tuesday evening from 5-7 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association in Clements memory.
