McMONIGLE, Conrad E. (Mac) age 70, passed away with his family by his side on August 19, 2011 after a long and brave battle with cancer. Mac was born on June 20, 1941 in Dayton, OH to Conrad and Ruth McMonigle. He graduated with the class of 1959 from Northridge High School. From an early age, Mac could accomplish anything he set his mind to including becoming an Eagle Scout at 14. He spent most of his life as an entrepreneur and business owner in Englewood, OH. In 1964, he and his wife Mary started Englewood Florist, and he spent 35 years as owner and broker of Northwoods Realty in Englewood. He was very active in the Antioch Shrine of Dayton, was Director Emeritus of the Antioch Marching Patrol, was past president of the Great Lakes Shrine Association, and was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason. He was an honorary lifetime member of Union VFW #5434, a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #3621 in West Milton, and a member of the Moose Lodge in Leesburg, Florida. Mac had an amazing zest for life. He loved spending time with his family and friends and brought energy and fun to everything he did, whether it was traveling all over the world or fishing at Lake Erie. He was preceded in death by his parents Conrad and Ruth McMonigle and his infant daughter Connie Jean. He is survived by Mary, his wife of 52 years, his three daughters, Marsha VanNorman and her husband Brent, Gloria Nelund and her husband Dave, and Missy McMonigle, his three grandchildren David Nelund, Morgan and Chad VanNorman, his sister and her husband Janet and Mickey Muth, his nephews and niece, Mike and Konnie Muth, Melanie Davis, Rick, David, and Bruce Hagens, two great aunts, Gloria and Eleanor Henger, and numerous cousins and friends. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am, Tuesday, August 23 at the Vandalia United Methodist Church, 200 S. Dixie Dr. Burial will follow at Poplar Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Vandalia United Methodist Church on Monday evening from 5-8 pm with Masonic Services to be held at 8:00 pm. If so desired, donations may be made to Heartland Hospice Memorial Fund at www.heartlandhospicefund or the Shriners Hospital for Children at www.support.shrinershospital.org.
