SUNDERLAND, CYNTHIA A. ,Age 49, of Vandalia, departed peacefully to be with her Lord on Wednesday, June 27, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her loved ones. Cynthia was born on August 7, 1962 in Ponca City, Oklahoma. She graduated from High School in Hobbs, New Mexico and went on to obtain her bachelors degree in accounting at Eastern New Mexico University. She was most recently a substitute teacher in the Vandalia-Butler School system. She was previously employed as a mortgage loan officer at various locations, a Sr. Staff Accountant at Reynolds and Reynolds, and as a Mary Kay representative. She is survived by her loving husband and best friend, Jim, her children, Joshua (Brianna) Love of Columbus, Ohio, Julia Love of Vandalia, Cory (Rachel) Sunderland of Columbus, Zachary Sunderland of Cincinnati, Holly Sunderland of Vandalia, her precious first granddaughter, Rhylyn Love, her beloved pets, Chewy and Chloe. She is also survived by her parents, Charles and Joy Tate of Cypress, Texas, and Pat and Ron Adkins of Ponca City, Oklahoma, her siblings, Debbie (Mark) Lavergne of Lake Charles, Louisiana, Sherri (Rick) Coutre of Ponca City, Oklahoma, Debra (Eddie) Griffith of Guthrie, Oklahoma, Buddy (Glenda)Tate of Waterloo, Iowa, and Michael Adkins of Ponca City, Oklahoma, her brothers-in "law, Spence (Lori) Sunderland of Plain City, Ohio, and John (Karin) Sunderland of Saylorsburg, Pennsylvania, numerous nieces and nephews, and dearly loved by countless others. She was an avid scrap booker, a member of the Noble Circle, and also enjoyed being with her numerous friends, watching movies, traveling, theater, shopping (for the very best deals!), and most of all spending time with her beloved family. Cynthias life was her altar (to God). Through her long and courageous battles, she was an inspiration to all. She inspired others by sharing her strong faith in God, and encouraging others to embrace life with joy and hope. Her heart was always in the service to others. She was truly a point of light to many, her family, her friends, and all who had the privilege and honor of knowing her. For to know Cynthia was to be loved and understood. She will live on in our hearts until we see her again. The family will receive friends Sunday, July 1, from 5 PM to 8 PM, at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr. Vandalia, Ohio. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 2, at 11 AM, at the Vandalia Christian Tabernacle, 836 S. Brown School Rd, Vandalia. Burial to follow at Poplar Hill Cemetery.
