Cynthia L. Whittaker

Age 65, of Englewood, passed away Sunday, May 28, 2017, at Kettering Medical Center. Cynthia was born April 27, 1952 in Dayton to Emmette & Madge (Rockey) Hunt. She was preceded in death by her mother and by a sister, Wendy Jean Hunt.

Cynthia worked as a Registered Nurse at Grandview Hospital for 20 years and more recently with Optum Nurseline for the past 16 years. She has been a member of the Vandalia Church of the Nazarene for the past 30 years and for 20 years she also served as the Church’s administrative and financial secretary.

Cynthia is survived by her loving husband of the past 47 years, Danny Whittaker; her father, Emmette; two children, Wendi Christopher (Charles) & Justin Whittaker (Katie); two siblings, Dawn Manns (Joel) & Rex Hunt (Vicki); and by seven grandchildren, Robert, Alanna, Ryleigh, Liam, Brady, Aiden & Stella.

Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon, Thursday (6/1) at the Vandalia Church of the Nazarene, 620 Stonequarry Road, Vandalia. Pastors Mark Batton & Robert Vogelmann will officiate. Interment will follow at Poplar Hill Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the church from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.

If desired, contributions may be made either to the church or to the American Cancer Society in Cynthia’s memory.
