Dale W. Baker

Dale W. “Doc” Baker

Age 88, lifetime resident of Dayton, Ohio, and graduate of Roosevelt High School (formerly of Lakengren in Eaton, Ohio; Bradenton, Florida; and most recently a resident of Friendship Village), passed away Thursday, January 11, 2018, at The Hospice of Dayton with his loving family by his side.

Doc was born October 3, 1929 in Lima, Ohio to the late Melvin T. & Bessie (Shoebe) Baker.

He earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Ohio Northern in 1950 and for 45 years he worked as a Pharmacist, owning & operating Baker’s Northridge Drug Store and Baker’s Dixie Drug Store. During his career he was active with the Miami Valley Pharmaceutical Association (Past President), the Northridge Kiwanis Club (Past President), the Walnut Grove Country Club, and he was a long-time member of the Vandalia United Methodist Church.

Doc is survived by his loving wife of the past 66 years, Margaret C. (Clapper) Baker; three children, David W. Baker (Lori), Dianne B. Powers (Jerry) & Deborah S. Larsen (Glenn); eight grandchildren, John (Lindsay), Mark (Amy), Emily, Sarah, Cameron, Allison, Brooklyn & Nolan; and by three great grandchildren, Whitney, Emma & Sam.

The family will be receiving friends from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Wednesday (1/17) at Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday at the Friendship Village Convocation Room, 5790 Denlinger Rd., Trotwood.

In lieu of flowers, contributions should be made in memory of Doc to The Hospice of Dayton or the Vandalia United Methodist Church.
