SENTER, Dale E. Sr., age 83, of Vandalia passed away January 16, 2014, after an extended illness. He was born in Dayton, January 10, 1931 to the late Virginia Possert. Dale was a graduate of Patterson Coop High School and was a United States Navy Veteran having served during the Korean War. He retired from Sheffield-Bendix after 36 years as a CNC Programmer. He was a member of the Forty and Eight. Dale was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Patricia Ann, his brother, Charles Senter, and sister, Delores Hobbs. The greatest man we ever knewDale leaves behind three daughters, Catherine L. and David Pope of Kettering, Linda J. and Johnny Snyder of Vandalia, Janet L. and Doug Schoening of Englewood. He leaves behind one son, Dale Jr. of Chicago, IL; five grandsons, Brandon Snyder, Adam Pope (Angie), Matthew Snyder (Jessica), Kyle Pope and Jordan Schoening; one granddaughter, Kayleigh Anne Schoening; five great-grandchildren, MacKenzie, Taylor and Gavin Pope, Jayden and Abigail Snyder; brothers, George Senter of Groton, New York and Tom Senter of Vandalia and one sister-in-law, Betty Adams along with numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Sunday, January 19, 2014 from 2-4 pm at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S Dixie Dr., Vandalia. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, January 20 at the funeral home with Ms. Nancy Boedeker officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton in Dale's memory, envelopes will be provided. A special thank you to all of the Hospice of Dayton staff who provided our father with great compassion and care in the last few months of his life.
