EDWARDS, Dallas N., age 92 of Vandalia, passed away Sunday, February 27, 2011 at Good Samaritan Hospital. He was born February 4, 1919 in North Carolina, son of the late Charles & Lillian (Thornton) Edwards. Dallas was a U.S. Army Air Corp Veteran of WWII, a retired US Air Force Reservist, and a retired employee of the Chrysler Corporation. He was an active volunteer with the prison chaplain program as well as the prison literacy program. Preceded in death by his brother, C.H. Edwards, Dallas is survived by his wife, Bobbie; 2 sons, Dallas & wife, Linda Edwards of Columbia, SC and Al & wife, Kim Staton of Jamestown; 1 daughter, Jean Ann & husband, Lem Daniels of Gladstone, MO; 1 brother, Elton & wife, Jessie Edwards of NC; grandchildren, Jennifer & husband, Drew Anderson of Lees Summit, MO, Kelly & husband, Ross Kurz of Olathe, KS, Blair Staton & Kate Staton, both of Jamestown and Dallas Gregory Staton of Xenia; 4 great-grandchildren, Taylor Anderson, Brady Anderson, Brandon Kurz & Brenden Staton, and a host of other relatives and friends. A Memorial Service for family and friends will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, March 5 at the Vandalia United Methodist Church, 200 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia with Rev. Thomas Weeks officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 am until time of service on Saturday. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Vandalia United Methodist Church Memorial Fund in memory of Dallas. Arrangements by Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, Vandalia.
