Dan Purvis

Dan Purvis, age 64 of Tipp City, passed away Friday, January 11, 2019 following a short illness. He was born in Grand Forks, North Dakota, to Van and Dolores (Schultz) Purvis. Dan was the Owner of Midwest Diamond Tool. He was a selfless person who put others first, was always willing to help and took great pride in helping others. His happy, positive attitude was evident in his smile and his laugh, especially in his ability to laugh at himself and others. His calming nature made him easy to talk to, and he shared his go with the flow attitude by reminding us all, “it is what it is.” Dan loved spending time with his family, fishing with his grandchildren, camping, tinkering with unusual cars, and teaching his grandson how to drive. He was always coming up with creative games to play with the grandchildren, making them up as he went along. Dan was a master storyteller, and boy, did he have a lot of stories!

Preceded in death by his parents, Van and Dolores Purvis, as well as his in-laws, Harold and Joann Haer, Dan is survived by his loving wife, Judy; two daughters, Nikki Rouse (Jon) and Jessi McDaniel (Josh); four treasured grandchildren, JC & Ella Rouse and Wyatt & Levi McDaniel; his beloved dog, Jackson; siblings, Brad Purvis (Sharon), Floyd Purvis (Eveline), Peg Turner (John), Pam Brockman (Wayne), and Joan Saunders (Ron); along with numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews and special friends.

A Memorial Service to celebrate Dan’s life will be held at 5:00 pm, Wednesday, January 16 at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S, Dixie Dr., Vandalia.
