Danford E Sammons, Jr.

SAMMONS, Danford E. Jr., age 68, of Butler Twp., passed away Tuesday, June 16, 2009 at Good Samaritan Hospital. He was born November 28, 1940 in Columbus, IN. Dan recently retired as Director of Dayton Operations for Jacobs Technology Advanced Systems Group after 25 years of service. He previously retired from the U.S. Navy as a Senior Chief Petty Officer after 20 years of service to his country. Dan was an active member of the Vandalia Baptist Temple and dearly loved his church family. Preceded in death by 1 daughter, DeAnna (Sammons) Binns and 1 brother, Robert Sammons, Dan is survived by his wife of 29 years, Karen L. Sammons; his children, Danford E. Sammons III (Carol) of FL; Deborah M. (Sammons) & fianc, David A. Raspallo of RI, and Emily N. Sammons of Butler Twp.; 5 grandchildren, Danford IV, Caitlin, Hannah, Nathaniel, & Alexandria; 1 sister, LaVina Sammons of Fairborn; sister-in-law, Dottie Sammons of Huber Heights, and numerous special nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at 10:00 am, Friday, June 19 at the Vandalia Baptist Temple, 724 Helke Rd., Vandalia with Rev. Rick Washburn and Rev. Randy Washburn officiating. Burial followed at Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery. The family received friends on Thursday from 5-8 pm at the Vandalia Baptist Temple.
