Daniel Joseph Haas

Age 85 of Vandalia, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 17, 2017 after a lengthy illness. Dan was born June 12, 1932 in Perrysburg, OH, son of the late Richard and Thelma (Rader) Haas. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict, a retired teacher of 33 years with the Vandalia-Butler School System, and a member of the Vandalia United Methodist Church.

Dan was a graduate of Bowling Green University and began his teaching career in the Jefferson Township School District, where he met and is survived by his wife of 53 years Nancy (Ridenour). Dan is survived by three sons Matt (Kelly), Tipp City OH, Timothy, Hebron IL, Steve, Troy OH, and daughter Janet, Kettering OH. He is also survived by sister in law Joy Haas of Union, and is preceded in death by two brothers Richard (Dick) Haas and James Haas.

Dan was blessed with eight grandchildren, Taylor Dean, Madison and Morgan Haas, Joey and Sydney Poeppelmeier, and Frederick, Jocelyn, and Adeline Haas.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, July 22, at the Vandalia United Methodist Church, 200 S. Dixie Dr. Vandalia, and Inurnment will follow at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 21 at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm.
