SHOCKEY, Daryl E., age 83 of Clayton, Ohio, passed away Friday, May 1, 2020.  Daryl was born on November 9, 1936 in Hazard, KY, son of the late Hurshel & Carma (Cox) Shockey.  He was a retired employee of General Motors Inland Division, Vandalia with 37 years of service.

He enjoyed fishing, boating, gardening, going to auctions, watching University of Kentucky basketball games and being outdoors. He always looked forward to traveling  back to Hazard, Kentucky for reunions and vacationing in the upper peninsula of Michigan on Big Manistique Lake.

Daryl was preceded in death by his wife Shirley (Reichard) Shockey, his sister and brother-in-law Patricia and Samuel Lacy and brother Hurshel Jr. Shockey.  Daryl is survived by his four children, Karen (Shayne) Watson of New Carlisle, Mark (Carolyn) Shockey of Centerville, Terri (Toby) Hartzell of Fairborn and Shari Walden of Miami, Florida ; 8 grandchildren, Leah Ulrich, Michael Meadors, Andy Meadors, Kaitlyn Meadors, Claire Shockey, Sophia Shockey, Sarah Hartzell, Natalie Hartzell and 7 great grandchildren; 3 siblings, Carolyn (Jim) Elam of Beavercreek, Phil (Bess) Shockey of Hempstead, Texas and Kathy (Chris) Pittman of West Carrollton, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Private services will be held for Daryl’s family at Morton & Whetstone funeral home in Vandalia.  Interment will be held at Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family appreciates donations to Day City Hospice, whose nurses provided compassionate comfort and care to Daryl in his last days.
