David Albert Amlin “Doc”

April 3, 1952- January 18, 2017

Survived by his wife of 43 years (Christy Clay); mother (Pat); children Dirk (Kara), Andy (Erin), Emily, C.J. (Jordan), Marcus, and Gary; grandchildren Brittany, Kaley, Noah, Chloe, Jesse, Elly, Henry, Anna, Lucy, Kara Grace, Adrian, and Eleanor. Brothers: Doug (Sue), Steve (Pam), Jeff (Jane), Craig (Judy) and sister Jennie (David) along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Ken.

David was a 1970 graduate of Butler High School. He graduated from East Tennessee State University with a B.S. in chemistry. From there, he graduated from dental school at The Ohio State University. He served as a dentist in the U.S. Army while stationed in Savannah, GA. He was honorably discharged as a Major in the U.S. Army Reserves. He worked as a dentist in the city of Vandalia for 30 years. He proudly coached football at Butler High School, Chaminade- Julienne High School, Carroll High School, Troy Christian High School, Dayton Christian High School, and Ponitz Career Technology Center. He strived for excellence in everything that he did and had a servant’s heart for people in need.

“Doc” loved his community and school, his football players, the X’s and O’s of football, his loyal office staff, playing bass in a garage band, fishing, watching his cows, baling hay, his farm in Hillsboro, OH, but most of all his family and his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

David’s visitation will take place on Sunday, January 22nd from 4-8 P.M. at Christian Life Center, 3489 Little York Rd. His Celebration of Life service will take place at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, January 23rd also at Christian Life Center.
