David Bitner

BITNER, C. David Jr., age 67 of Vandalia, passed away Saturday, December 16, 2006 at Miami Valley Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was born February 3, 1939 in Hanover, PA, son of the late Charles D. Bitner Sr. & Elsie L. (Shoup). Dave was a retired employee of Delco Moraine and a former employee of the U.S. Postal Service. He was a former pilot and he loved to race motorcycles. He was a member of the Vandalia United Methodist Church, the Vandalia Lions Club, the Dayton Motorcycle Club, and the American Motorcycle Association. Dave is survived by his wife of 48 years, Glenda (Downey); 1 daughter, Bethany Colby-Lauffenburger & husband, Dave of Butler Twp; 1 son, C. David Bitner III & wife, Natalie of Springboro; 4 grandchildren, Matthew Colby, Jonathan Colby, C. David Bitner IV Chase , and Ireland Marie Bitner; his beloved dog, Bingo; 1 sister, Nancy Beisman of Vandalia; his mother-in-law, Pat Downey of Vandalia; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Cynthia & Tom Scott & family; 4 nephews, Mark Beisman, Todd Beisman, Bryan Beisman, and Sean Beisman and their families; special cousins, Becky Northern, Susan Gough and Yvonne Seitner and their families and a host of other relatives and special friends. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am, Tuesday, December 19, at the Vandalia United Methodist Church, 200 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia with Rev. Thomas Weeks officiating. Cremation to follow. Lions Club Memorial Service will be held prior to the funeral service on Tuesday. The family will receive friends at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr, Vandalia on Monday evening from 5-8 pm. The family requests no floral contributions but that donations in lieu of flowers be made to Canine Companions for Independence, c/o Vandalia Lions Club, P.O. Box 444, Vandalia, OH 45377.
