CULLARS, David W. age 90, of Vandalia, passed away Thursday July 23, 2009 at his residence. He was born May 13, 1919 in Dayton, son of the late Ralph & Hazel (Hild) Cullars. David was a retired sheet metal worker from Local Union #224 and also was retired from the Leo Schroder Co. with 36 years of service. He was a WWII U. S. Army Veteran and a member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton and was a 32nd Degree Mason. David is survived by his wife of 69 years, Thelma (Sadie) Cullars; 2 daughters, Patti & husband Dan Nishwitz of Norris Lake, TN, & Nancy Minor & fiance Glen Smith of Vandalia; 3 grandchildren, David & wife Lisa Nishwitz, Jeffrey Stitt, & Danielle Nishwitz; 3 great grandchildren, Hunter & Hope Nishwitz, Joshua Reeser and numerous other relatives & friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, July 27 at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr. Vandalia with Rev. Thomas Weeks officiating. Burial to follow at Poplar Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 12:30p.m. until time of service. If so desired, contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton in Davids memory.
