DECKER, David C., age 64 of Vandalia, passed away Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at his residence after a lengthy illness. He was born April 4, 1948 in Dayton, OH, son of the late Charles Decker & Thelma Reynolds. David proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Marine Corps, and was a Vietnam veteran. He is survived by his wife, Ricki; 2 sons, David Decker of CA & Herbert Decker of Vandalia; 2 daughters, Nicolle Fazis (Gerald) of CA and Pam Smith of Clayton; 5 grandchildren, Allison & Logan Fazis, Micah Turner, Ezra & Joel Smith; 3 sisters, Joyce Gooding (Jim), Sharon Sparks (Tom) and Cathy Owens; 2 brothers, Herbert Smith (Judy) and Kenneth Kilby (Cheryl); longtime special friend, Nelson Brown; a very special neighbor, Dustin Stevenson, as well as all David and Rickis family and friends of the American Legion Post #668 where he served proudly as the Post Commander for many years. A Memorial Service will be held to celebrate Davids life at 1:00 pm, Monday, August 6 at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia. As David was an advocate for our troops and veterans, donations to the American Legion Post #668 in Vandalia would be appreciated. There will be no visitation.
