David Nickels

Age 85 of Dayton, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday May 31, 2017 at The Oaks of West Kettering. David was born April 10, 1932 in Oppy, KY son of the late Sam & Dixie (Duncan) Nickels.

He was a USMC Veteran of the Korean Conflict and was a retired employee of Harris Thomas Drop Forge Co. with 34 years of service. David was a member of the Northridge Freewill Baptist Church where he was a deacon for many years.

He was preceded in death by his wife Lorraine and 10 brothers & sisters.

David is survived by his children Sheldon (Brenda) Nickels, Sam (Sharon) Nickels, Steve (Regina) Nickels, Matt (Judy) Nickels, Mary (Jim) Prater, Norm (Missy) Nickels, Dwayne (Jenn) Nickels; one sister Marjorie (Lafe) Murphy; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held Friday June 2 at 12:00 noon at the Northridge Freewill Baptist Church 4800 Payne Ave, Dayton with Rev. Tim Hamilton officiating. Burial will follow at Poplar Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Friday morning from 10:00 am until time of the service.
