BROWN, Deanna R., born November 5, 1937, passed away at home surrounded by her daughters and loving husband on November 18, 2018. Preceded in death by her parents, Helen and Clarence Shade, brother, Dean Shade and her former husband, Richard Gross, Deanna is survived by her devoted husband, David; daughters, Darana Edmondson (Ron Brooks) and Diane Alexander (Todd), step-son, Charles Brown (Lisa); grandchildren, Tyler (Bethany), Tanner (Brooke), Austen, Denver (Lizz), Kristen (Chad), Kara (Ryan), Jordan (Rob) and Josh; great-grandchildren, Trent, Trace, Crew, & Cash; special nephew, Carl Dalrymple and a host of other family and friends.
Deanna was a 1955 graduate of Fairborn High School. During this time, she was a member of the elite Miller’s Blackhawks, a competitive baton twirling team. After high school, Deanna pursued a career in cosmetology and later received her Masters Degree in Education and taught cosmetology at Stebbins High School. In 1974, she became a member of the Flying Angels Aero Club, after obtaining her pilot’s license. She was an avid gardener who loved her flowers, and was an avid Ohio State Buckeye fan!
Deanna was a loving and caring wife, mother and grandma who enjoyed spending time with her family. Deanna and Dave lived for each other and loved every moment.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Friday, November 23, 2018 at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia with Chaplain Randy Reed officiating. Interment will follow at Byron Cemetery, Fairborn. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 11:00 am until time of service.
