PHILLIPS, DELMER W., age 88, of Englewood, went to his heavenly home Friday, November 6, 2009. He was born December 9, 1920 in Monterey, TN, son of the late Rev. Elvin C. & Nancy A. Phillips. Delmer was a retired General Motors employee with 30 years of service, was a member of First Grace Brethren Church and the Beavercreek Masonic Lodge. He was an avid reader who also enjoyed farming and building houses. Delmar was an active Ham Radio Operator, call number W8BRK. Preceded in death by his first wife of 59 years, Edith (Bowman); 1 brother, Dallas Phillips and 1 grandson, Shawn Meredith, Delmar is survived by his wife, Redith (Stacy); son, Richard D. Phillips (Pat) of Kettering; daughter, Peggy Ann Gear of Bellbrook; step-sons, Alfred C. Jr., David R., Charles E. & John P. Allen; 4 sisters, Dalpha Koeller, of Brookville, Nancy Laymon, of Fairborn, Loretta Myers, of Fairborn, & Kathryn Wysong (Ralph) of Brookville; 1 brother, Elvin Claude Phillips of TN; grandchildren, Chris Meredith of Bellbrook and Jamie Yates (Michael) of CA; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon, Monday, November 9 at Grace Brethren Village, 1010 Taywood Rd., Englewood with Pastor Mark Saunders, Pastor Forrest Jackson & Pastor Herman Jackson officiating. Burial to follow at Royal Oak Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends in the Grace Brethren Village Community Room on Monday from 10:00 am until time of service. Arrangements entrusted to Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, Vandalia.
