Diane L. Johnson, 67, passed away at Hospice of Dayton, Ohio on November 12, 2009 . She was born on February 12, 1942 in Cleveland, Ohio, the daughter of the late Carroll and Virginia (nee Fulmer) Johnson. Diane graduated from Buckeye High School, Medina, Ohio in 1960 and Ohio Northern University in 1964. She retired from the Vandalia-Butler City School system in 1997 after a 32 year career as a school teacher, specializing in remedial reading, and relocated to Ft. Myers, Florida. She is survived by her brothers, C. Nevada Johnson, Jr. (Roberta) of Medina, Ohio and Edwin J. Johnson (Kelly) of Arvada, Colorado, nephews, Mark Johnson of Wadsworth, Ohio, David Johnson of Cleveland, Ohio , Brian Johnson (Kelly) of Golden, Colorado, Zachary Johnson of Denver, Colorado, and nieces, Jennifer Polvogt (Nathaniel) of Arvada, Colorado, and Christina Johnson of Yountville, California, aunts, Verna Schivley of Kettering, Ohio and Lou Wilda McDonald of Galion, Ohio, several cousins and many friends, especially Ann Scott, Cassie Rogers and Sally McGowan who provided countless hours of loving care and devotion to her during her final illness. Visitation will be held at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home in Vandalia, Ohio on Saturday, November 21, 2009 from 2 to 4 PM, immediately followed by a Memorial Service presented by her sorority, the Kappa Beta Chapter of Sigma Phi Gamma International. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Medina, Ohio on Monday, November 23, 2009, at 1:30 PM. The Rev. Dr. C. Eric Funston will officiate. After the service a reception will be held for family and friends at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, OH 45420, which provided excellent care to her during the final weeks of her life or St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 317 E. Liberty St., Medina, OH 44256.
