Donald H. Bates

BATES, Donald H., age 89 of Englewood passed away Saturday, February 15, 2014 at Good Samaritan Hospital. He was born November 24, 1924 in Dayton, OH, son of the late Edmund & Mabel Bates. Donald proudly served in the U.S. Navy and was a retired employee of United Color Press. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Laura "Jane" Henry Bates. Children Barb and her husband John Deeds, Bev Hollen, Bonnie and her husband Larry Price, Kent Bradley, and Becky and her husband Gary Seitz; grandchildren Kevin Deeds, Ryan Deeds, Deanna and her husband Mitch Sweazy, Rob and his wife Susan Hollen, Jason and his wife Robin Price, Erin Businger, Brandon Price, Karla and her husband Curt Wisecup, Kelly Jacobs, Lindsay Seitz, Tyler Seitz, and Trent Seitz, also 10 great grandchildren with one on the way. A Memorial Service will be held at 5:00 pm, Tuesday, February 18 at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 3:00 pm until time of service. In lieu of flowers, please make donation to the American Heart Association.
