CHIPMAN, Donald age 79, of Dayton, formerly of Vandalia, passed away Monday, January 16, 2012 at Hospice of Dayton. He was born April 22, 1932 in Wheeling, West Virginia, son of the late Walter & Evelyn (Rackham) Chipman. Don was a U.S. Air Force Veteran, and was retired from the Dayton Daily News with 37 years of service. He was a member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton, John Durst Masonic Lodge and the American Legion Post #668. He was a former member of the Vandalia United Methodist Church and attended the St. James United Methodist Church. Preceded in death by his granddaughter, Kinsey Jean, Donald is survived by his wife of 59 years, Joann (Neavin); 3 children, Donna (Chipman) & husband, Dr. James Bruce of Dayton, Ken Chipman of Dayton and Mark Chipman & wife, Carol of Apollo Beach, FL; grandchildren, Christopher & Erika Tallet, Jason & Emily Evans, Taylor Braden & Haley Chipman; great-grandchildren, Arianna Evans & Evan Sluss, his beloved dog, Cody and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 pm, Wednesday, January 18, at the Vandalia United Methodist Church, 200 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia with Rev. Thomas Weeks officiating. Burial will be held at 1:00 pm, Thursday, January 19 at Holly Memorial Gardens, Martins Ferry, OH. The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday evening from 4-7 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton or the Alzheimers Association in Donalds memory. The family would like to offer a special thanks to Dr. Deepak Sarwal, Dr. Harvey Hahn, Dr. Chirad Patel, Margaret Cook, P.A. and the nursing staff of Hospice, Linda, Katherine, Sue & Melody for the wonderful care given to Donald.
