Donald L. Coulbourne

COULBOURNE, Donald L., age 81, of Vandalia passed away Friday, August 12, 2011 at his residence after a lengthy illness. He was born August 8, 1930 in Baltimore, MD, son of the late George P. & Ruth (Sterling) Coulbourne. Don retired from General Motors, was a member of the St. Pauls Lutheran Church and a proud U.S. Navy Veteran. He was also a life member of the VFW Post #9582 and a member of the American Legion Post #668, Masonic Lodge #742 F&AM, the Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton, Antioch Shrine, Kittyhawk Shrine Club, Antioch 4-Wheelers, and Dayton Victory Chapter #594 OES. Preceded in death by 1 son, Joseph Smith and 1 granddaughter, Taryn Mabry; Don is survived by his wife of 50 years, Doris of Vandalia; 4 daughters, Cathy Schweigman (Bernard Jr), Debbie Chaney (Larry), Dori Geise, and Terri Mabry (Scott); 6 grandchildren, Laura, Bernard III, Andrew (Kati) and Kimberly Schweigman, Sam Geise and Torres Mabry, and many close relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am, Tuesday, August 16 at the St. Pauls Lutheran Church, 7700 Dog Leg Rd., Dayton OH with Pastor Kurt Lammi officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia on Monday evening from 5-8 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association or to Hospice of Miami County in Dons memory.
